It has been a little over three years since Rob Hill (11-7-1) has fought on Australian soil. His time overseas has mainly been taken up by fighting for Legend Fighting Championship where he has been fighting against some of the best fighters that the Asia Pacific region has to offer. This weekend Hill makes his return to Sydney through the stacked Brace For War card, which takes place at Luna Park on Saturday night.
On his return to action in Sydney, Hill was excited “I’m stoked,” he stated. “I am really happy that I get to compete in front of my family and friends,” It’s a welcomed change for Hill who has been gaining international exposure fighting for Legend FC abroad “fighting at home is going to be unreal, I am really looking forward to putting on a great match for the fans,” Hill stated.
Fighting a fellow Legend FC fighter is something that he is really looking forward to since he and Damien Brown were unlikely to meet inside the ring for Legend, “It’s pretty cool,” he explained, “I am always up for a test against a good opponent and Damien is a great fighter so I am really looking forward to this match.” After coming off two losses in a row, Hill is excited to showcase what he can do inside the cage, “I can’t wait to show what I can do. I am confident and have been concentrating on putting on a good show.” Although his Legend FC fights are contested inside a ring, Hill isn’t worried about the change of scenery this weekend, “I train in a cage and to me it’s not that different to a ring. It’s all the same to me.”
A big difference for Hill going into the Brace fight is that he has been able to prepare for the whole fight in Sydney, “It has taken a lot of pressure off me because I don’t have to worry about flying overseas. It has made this camp so easy and I have had so much support from everyone going into the match, it has been a really good camp for me,” Hill explained.
Hill and Brown are two of the best Lightweights that Australia has to offer and the match-up is one that Hill is really looking forward to. “It’s a classic match-up between two similar guys,” he explained. “I know that there will be fireworks and I hope to come out as the victor”. Training exclusively out of Langes in Sydney, Hill is looking forward to showing off his hard work this weekend, “I can’t wait to do exactly what I have trained to do and I am really confident going into this one.”
There are a lot of people who have given Hill support in the lead up to his return to action on home soil, Bloodbath Fightwear, Beast Sports Nutrition, All Systems Fitness, Langes Martial Arts and Manly Surf School are among the important people that Hill attributes to his success and he is thankful for their support in the lead up to his first outing for 2013.
There is no doubt that many people around the world will be eagerly awaiting the result of this Brace 19 Lightweight contest. There is nothing like watching two of the best in their division square off and although there may be one man walking out with a loss, there is one group of people who will not lose from this fight and that is the fans in attendance!
