CageJunkies Exclusive: TUF 17 Recap Episode 3

It’s Time!!! (Sorry Buffer, don’t sue me) It’s time for your exclusive CageJunkies.com Ultimate Fighter 17 recap!  Let’s do this!

Chael Sonnen picked a training partner of Jon Jones’, Uriah Hall who trains at Jackson MMA.  Sonnen speaks about Hall, and says he is the most talented, best fighter there. He said his own worst enemy could is himself.  Hall is sparring at the training center, with teammate Kevin Casey, and Casey gets the best of him in a scramble. Hall loses his temper, and asks his partner to go again. Chael comes over to talk him and calm him down.

Uriah is also going to be the second fight of the season. Coach Sonnen spends a lot of time with Uriah Hall. He sees some parallels with him and Hall, saying they both have an issue doubting and second guessing themselves and admitting it. Coach Sonnen tells him that he actually went to a sports psychologist because of it, and that it’s similar to being an alcoholic. At first you have to admit you have a problem.

The fighters discuss who they want to fight on the way to the training to the training center. Kevin Casey says he doesn’t want to fight Bubba McDaniels first. He will be fighting Adam Cella from Team Jones.

Coach Jones is meeting with his team, and asks every one of them why they want to be a pro fighter. They all had their reasons, some many different. But it seemed Jones was genuinely interested in their stories. He said it was a good bonding moment and he feels more of a brotherhood with his team now.

Fight Day:

Both fighters are working on their gameplans, and Adam Cella says Uriah is a stronger guy, but he could see himself submitting him. Both fighters tell their coaches they are scared, and that fear is good sometimes. Hall says his gameplan is to remain comfrtoable in the cage, and try to keep it standing.

Fight Time:

Adam Cella (Team Jones) vs Uriah Hall (Team Sonnen)

Round 1

Fighters come out throwing punches right away, Hall circles to his right as Cella comes in for the clinch.  Hall is strong in the clinch, and lands some hard knees to the body of Cella.  Cella pulls guard, as they both work to gain a better position. Hall gets back to his feet and starts working his jab. Not really landing, though. Cella throws a kick that Hall catches, then Hall lands a good straight right, then a left high kick.

Cella trying to work his jab as well, then clincehs again against the cage briefly.

Sonnen is yelling to Uriah Hall to keep using his jab. Hall doesn’t seem to listen too well, and continues to throw leg kicks and body kicks that land. Cella lands a straight left, then out of nowhere, Uriah lands a spinning back kick to the head of Cella knocking him out cold. Cella is down for awhile, as doctors check him out. Hall is happy with the finish, but doesn’t gloat or celebrate, instead he checks on Cella and says “I’m sorry, Adam.”  Cella comes to, and sits up right. And everyone gives him a round of applause. Good thing he’s OK.

Winner Via KO: Uriah Hall (Team Sonnen)

Dana White says it was one of the most spectacular KO’s he’s ever seen. Uriah says he feels bad about what happend.

Team Sonnen is now up 2-0.

Team Sonnen retains control, and picks Kevin Casey (Team Sonnen) to fight Collin Hart (Team Jones) on next week’s episode. Next week, his team will try to go 3-0 to start with a huge advantage over Team Jones.
