Dana White on Mitrione turning down Cormier fight – “It f—ing makes me sick.”

After UFC on Fuel 5, UFC President Dana White was asked about the prospects of Daniel Cormier’s next opponent coming from the UFC. Originally Frank Mir was scheduled to face Cormier under the Strikeforce banner, but was injured during training and subsequently was forced to withdraw. White responded by explaining who won’t be fighting Cormier, Matt Mitrione. Check out some highlights from the discussion below:

White on Mitrione not accepting a fight against Cormier:

“It f—ing makes me sick,” White said. “Listen, you don’t want big opportunities, I hear you. I get it, then. All I can say is, I guess he doesn’t want big opportunities. I get it. Duly noted.”

On Mitrione’s newly developed beef with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson:

“He wants to fight a guy who weighs 205, but doesn’t want to fight the guy who’s the real heavyweight, the legitimate guy who’s ranked. And Mitrione’s not getting any younger.”

On Mitrione preferring to fight De Fries:

“F—in’ insane,” White said. “It makes no sense to me, and it’s insane. I’m a little bummed out by it. We’ll figure it out. Yeah, (he’s already got a fight booked). He said, ‘I’ll just take that one.’”
