TUF Smashes Preview – Dylan Andrews
CageJunkies.com can confirm that Nitro Australian Middleweight champion Dylan Andrews will be trying out for The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes Series. Being one of the top fighters in the Australian middleweight division Dylan saw this as a great opportunity to broaden his horizons and make the cut to Welterweight in order to help progress his career. This interview was conducted one week prior to the confirmation that Dylan was in the try-outs.
When we spoke with Dylan regarding the Smashes Series last week he was quietly confident that he is not only going to make his way to the show but he is also going to win the series. “I am going to dominate on the show” Andrews exclaimed. Many are of the opinion that he will struggle to compete at the lower weight but Dylan dismissed that train of thought. “I am going to get to Welterweight. If I want to do something I will do it no matter what” he explained. “It’s not a question of whether I can make the cut. I will make the cut and I will make weight no matter what.”
Dylan has been taking the time to train with UFC fighter Jamie Te-Huna and believes that he is ready for the next level in the sport. “Training with Jamie was great” he said, “It was great to just live and breathe the sport.” That’s certainly something Dylan is going to have to get used to with the prospect of joining the series giving fighters the opportunity to perfect their craft in a big way. Andrews is certainly one of the favourites leading up to the series and we are looking forward to sharing his progress through-out the tryouts.
