Shipping Details-

I received this item fairly quickly in about 4 days. It was packaged in a sturdy heavy-duty plastic shipping bag. After opening the shipping bag I found the Gi was clean and folded very neatly inside another heavy-duty plastic bag. This product was prepared neatly and protected properly to sustain the trip.

 

Initial Evaluation-

Due to the heavy-duty texture of the weave, right away I knew this was a high quality Gi that was ready for competition. I noticed double stitching on all the patches and the pants have 1 inch padding along the seams for extra durability. This is very important because lower quality Gi pants end up ripping right along those seams, it is good to have this extra padding to prevent any type of ripping there. The attention to detail was very impressive with reinforced knee pads, heavy-duty rope draw string and  thick rubberized canvas collar.

 

Having worn close to a dozen different types of martial arts Gi’s in my life there’s one thing most of the them have in common and that is shrinkage. This Gi was no different; I understood it was 100% cotton so I prepared myself for the shrinkage by ordering one size bigger than the size normally worn. This is a size A1 Gi I ordered for my 11-year-old son. After trying it on, it was obvious that the Gi was over-sized, so I put it to wash in hot water and to machine dry hot as well. The end result was a semi-good fit that could use a bit more shrinking but overall acceptable.

 

Trial-

I had my son do a 20 day on this Gi. The trial consisted mostly of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grappling and some Judo training. Everyone at the gym loved the look of the new Gi. Senior belts, including instructors, commented on the excellent texture of the weave and stated that it was a very strong Gi. After training hard for 20 days I can say that overall it held up very nicely not stretching out, no tearing, and no discoloration whatsoever. It also received full approval from my son as well.

 

Throughout the trial period I did feel inclined to wash it in hot water three more times to get the size exactly where it needed to be. I have washed it several times more since them in cold water and hung it to dry. It has not shrunk at all in any of the cold washes. This is an obvious indication that I was dealing with high quality fabric.

 

Conclusion-

My son loves his new Gi and prefers it over all his other Gi’s. Although unfamiliar with the brand his gym teammates are blown away by the high quality pads, lapels and stitching overall. It’s obvious this Gi will last for many years to come and will help bring home some awards at BJJ tournaments. I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it for everyday use.
