Rockhold to defend Strikeforce middleweight title against Jardine

Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold’s first title defense will take place on January 7, 2012 as he faces former UFC light heavyweight contender Keith Jardine.

Rockhold was originally slated to defend his belt against Tim Kennedy, however an undisclosed injury has forced the Army ranger from the bout, opening the door for Jardine to step in. The fight will be Jardine’s first in the middleweight division.

Rockhold confirmed the title fight with Jardine on his official Twitter page. Location for the fight has yet to be announced.
