Jamie Varner signs 3 fight deal with the XFC
Former WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner has signed a 3 fight deal with
Xtreme Fighting Championship or the XFC which is based out of Florida. XFC
is one of the top promotions in the southeast and is broadcasted live on HD
Net. It has at one time been home to several UFC and WEC fighters and will
now be the home of a former WEC champion with Jamie Varner.
Jamie Varner had lost 3 out of 4 bouts and was on the verge of retiring
before stepping into the XFC cage for the first time on October 21st in
Orlando, Florida. That night Varner fought Nate Jolley, a product of Team
Oxendine based out of East Tennessee and who also is considered to be one
of the best lightweights in the state. Varner was able to walk away that
night with an early 1st round knockout after what took only one minute and
nine seconds of very exciting action between the two fighters.
Varner was able to pick up the W that night over a very game opponent and
did so in a very exciting fashion and subsequently resurrected his career
with the knockout and with the XFC. Varner now will be looking to ride the
momentum of that knockout and his victory forward in his career and he will
be doing so in an XFC cage. He has signed a three fight deal with the
promotion and it looks as if the XFC will be the home of the former world
champion for the foreseeable future.
The XFC will be making its return to HD Net and to the state of Tennessee
on February 10th. The XFC has not been to Tennessee since 2009 when it
hosted the inaugural pro event in the state and did so with an historical
card full of very exciting fights. The XFC will be looking to do much of
the same when it returns in February and look for Varner to possible be on
the card. Stay tuned as more information become available
