Don King Wants To Start His Own MMA Promotion

Calling MMA “sophisticated barbarism,” during a recent swing through New York to promote his “Viva Don King” telecast, King let it be known that he was looking to go into the business of mixed martial arts.

“I’m looking forward to doing (MMA) too. And creating a competition between the UFC and whatever I call the MMA company that I put together,” says King.

Boxing, says King, has been self-destructing by giving fans fights — but never giving the fights they really want to see like Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. He blames cable TV executives who’ve become increasingly powerful over the years.
